my 96 1.8 t sport has started to make a strange noise, a little like a slipping fan belt (only way i can think of describing it, though no where near as bad as the battered old escorts etc you hear going around), when its idling and then gets a little louder when you pull away in first and then slightly in second. the noise doesnt get any louder than that and doesnt change pitch the faster the revs.
the timing belt was change at around 45k and its not on 65k. any ideas?
also from time to time when making slow parking manouvres i get a groan from the power steering. i remember doing a search and reading something about it ages ago and it sounded quite common so didnt worry but i cant find the post now
