I know most people go with 225/40/18 when upgrading to 18"s on the B5 chasis. How about 235/40/18, will it also fit or it will rub?

225/40/18 gives you the closest rolling diameter to the original (0.8% bigger than original). 235 bumps it up to 2.06% bigger (or 13mm). So you may find speedo inaccuracy, and slightly slower acceleration, but it is still within the recommended 2.5% difference.

I have a GPS Road Angel as well - that has a GPS based speedo which reads about 2-3% lower than car speedo, which is what I would have expected anyway.
