A4 1.6 1997 Stalls when pulling off if aircon on

Hi,

I have an 1997 A4 which keeps stalling/cutting out when taking off if the aircon is on. It is ok when driving along normally but if reversing out of a parking space or pulling out from a junction it somtimes stalls or goes really slow like you are trying to pull of in 3rd gear! It began happening only when the aircon was on high, now it does it when the aircon is on low too! Any ideas what is causing it/will fix it?

maybe battery or alternator
sounds like to much charge for it to handle
how old is the battery?

Not sure to be honest - i've only had the car 2 months! I'm not very mechanical but audi are so expensive to get it checked over! I've read on other threads which sound simular to my prob that it may be the MAF (whatever that is) and to unplug it to see if the porb persists or something to do with the air filter!

i think if its the maf it would do it with aircon off aswell

Where abouts are you located. There are a load of boys on here with VAG COM that could scan the car and let you know whats up with it.
