Insurance Companies - Recommend any?

I apologise if you've had this post a million times before..

I've got an A4 1995 with a CCCTech chip on it. The chip is the only mod on it which takes it to 116bhp.

Any recommendations for insurance companies?

Hi Gareth,
I am currently insured on my A4 2.8 quattro with 'elephant.co.uk' (yes that rather annoying TV advert!) as they were the most reasonable at the time. Previously when I had a heavily modified escort estate I was with 'Adrian Flux' who have a specialist motor department which, as the name suggests, deals with modified and unusual vehicles!

Recently made a fault claim and they approved repairs within a week. I chose the garage (an audi specialist) and they sent an assessor there to check the damage, got a call from an insurance investigator to take details of accident, 7 days after accident they had approved the repairs (£10000 worth of damage, dont ask). Service was excellent, very helpful staff and claim was sorted out quicker than expected.

Try Tesco they have been way cheaper for quite a number of folk I know after recommending them. Not sure about mods tho. But I'd be surprised if anyone gave you a hard time about a 116bhp mod!

I've had a nightmare with mine - basically insurers seem to make the rules up as they go - a bunch of thieving baskets! My A4 costs considerably more to insure than my 170mph Fireblade, no points etc, 32 years old but treated like a 17 year old car thief.... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/burningmad.gif And now insurance is going up due to the number of uninsured drivers on the road - I wonder why there are so many??!!

its cheaper to not insure your car and just pay the fines you get for driving with no insurance.

There was a programme on BBC3 the other day, almost like a fly on the wall doc where they followed around a young pirate radio DJ. He had to go to court for driving without a license and insurance. He drove to the court where the Judge told that if he was ever caught in a car he would be dealt with severly. The guy laughed left court jumped in his car and drove home.

Something has to be done soon, car insurance prices are getting rediculous and with more and more people driving without insurance for those of us that do pay, its just gonna keep going up and up.

Were very competitive and my premium was 550 protected ncb fully comp.

I also us www.moneysupermarket.co.uk has an insurance comparison tool, will get the best quotes for stock cars...

I used TESCO ... why?
1. Reasonable premium
2. Prepared to consider my driving history when I came off a company car scheme. Gave me the discount equivalent to 6 years no claims.
3. Took the time to record all the options I have on the car and include them in the car value. But yet they did not penalise me for everything.

They treated me fairly and that's all you can ask these days.

Norwich Union i found was the best for me im a young driver insured under my dads name was bout £300 cheaper than anywhere else!

"More Than" were great for price and service on previous A4 1.8, but when I changed it for a 2.8 Quattro, they refused to cover my wife because she's still a learner. The only people I could get to cover her were Audi Insurance Services, but it cost me £850. I'm about to renew at the end of April, and best quote I've had so far is £680 via "Quoteline Direct" on the net. I'm hoping to get it down to £600 before the month is out, though.
