where should the jack go and how does it fit in?

i have my jack sat in the storage space on the right hand side of my boot but i am sure this is probably not the right space for it.

where should it go?

a pic would be a good help
 
In your spare wheel should have a plastic thingy in it that it all sits in I from what I can remember.
 
i only have the plastic screw in thing that holds the wheel in place?
 
on facelift models it goes on the left hand side behind the carpeted door

not on mine, i take it avants r different?

mine is in the plastic thing with wheel brace etc. that sits in the spare wheel

i see there is an aera below the tool kit but i thought that was for a six disc changer or something.

have you got a pic showing how its supposed to go in there?

the jack goes into the tool kit
 
didnt think it would fit in there, will go and have a look
 
On my B6 A4 its under the boot carpet, the toolkit is on the left as you look in and the jack is on the right, although I never use the OE jack as its dangerous for anything except emergency wheel changes.
 
surprising isn't it the prev owner prob couldn't get the jack back in
