where should the jack go and how does it fit in?

i have my jack sat in the storage space on the right hand side of my boot but i am sure this is probably not the right space for it.

    where should it go?

a pic would be a good help

On my B6 A4 its under the boot carpet, the toolkit is on the left as you look in and the jack is on the right, although I never use the OE jack as its dangerous for anything except emergency wheel changes.
