Whistle from the Turbo

I've seen lots of mails on this forum about Turbo's and notice that everyone talks about the whistling noise as you step on the gas. I have a 1.8T Sport Quattro. My car has never made the whistling noise, regardless of speed, engine revs, gear.

I always notice that whenever I am out of the car and a turbo charged audi passes me it makes the noise.

Can any one you guys with the same car tell me what yours does or not?

My 1.8TQS hardly made a sound until I had a Milltek exhaust put on, now I can hear the turbo!

My A3 only became really audiable once I had it chipped if that's any help.

my QTS is quiet, can hear slightly when stereo not on though.

i have a 2000 1.8t quattro and when i have the windows down i can hera the hwistling cleary.

My A4 1.8T made a whistling noise but it got a lot more audible once chipped.
