Well as some of you know I own a MR2 Turbo Ferrari replica, anyway I sold the car taking cash and a VW Golf 1.6SE Mk IV and cash in the deal just over a week ago.

3am this morning I was woken up by someone trying to start a car then the car being started with the engine screaming. I ran to the window to see some kid with a hoodie on screaming it off the drive.

As most people know and I had this confirmed by a specialist Friend in VW cars you can only drive them away with a key plus the car had a separate fuel pump cut off so I can only think it could be the guy I did the deal with that only gave me one key (which I still have).

Now some are asking what this has got to do with the A4 section well take a look at what they did to my A4 on the way out of my drive.

Well just the bumper and the conversion to get it to fit then paint is going to be around £1000 I would think as I normally do it myself but I'm on holiday when it goes in to have the front end rebuilt. Then you have to add the cost of the Golf which was not insured and I'm out of pocket about £4,500-£5k.

The police have been fully informed thats for sure.

I just bought an S4 with only 1 key. Saying that my 2.8 15 months ago only had one key and that wasn't taken. all the same i think i'll remove my address from the ebay section.

Not sure with Audi, but on my Merc, the dealer could code new keys to the car and also bar all keys other than those in your possession.

Worth asking.

yup, it's an option in Vag-Com if you have the SKC. funnily enough i was emptying the bedroom the other day prior to the new units coming and dug out my keys, i have the SKC still attached to the (virgin) keys, there's a second flip key, a normal key with a spanner symbol on it and a plastic emergency key as well as the long white plastic strip with the SKC
