Fault Code

I just scanned my car for faults and i had this one.


00561 - Mixture Adaptation
15-10 - Adaptation Limit (Add) Not Reached - Intermittent

Anyone know what this means? the car is running fine and so i cleared the code to see if it comes back

Not sure pal, when did you last VAG-COM the car was that the first time. If so then it could have been an old fault that has never been cleared.

I have had vag com for a long time now and thats a new code. I think it might have something to do with the fact i normally run it on V-Power (well one tank a month) and i was away the other week and lent my dad the car while I was away and he had been filling up at asda! I checked it when i got home tonight and it hasn't come back yet.
The only other code that came up was for a knock sensor but i know that the sensor is faulty i just haven't got round to changing it

Possible Fault Condition :
. Fuel pressure too low
. Ignition system faulty
. Leakage in exhaust system before catalyst
. Incorrect signal from G70 (MAF)

Symptom(s) :
. Increased fuel consumption
. Sooty exhaust

Remedial Action :
. Check fuel system & pressure
. Check exhaust system for leakage
. Check / Clean G70 (MAF)

Thats the same code i get too, I have never got it to stayaway,I have replaced the MAF and all of the vacuum hoses etc to no avail,i guess next step is a fuel pump,as the filter has been changed already

Thanks Jim, I have some new plugs to go on aswell as new leads and a new fuel filter and i am going to clean the MAF connectors so hopefully that should sort it! the exhaust isn't blowing and the fuel consumption is really good at the moment.

Ive been having problems with mine too, its a 99' 1.8t quattro sport 180bhp chipped to 210bhp, it only seems to do it when there is 4 people in the car or it has a full tank of juice, i.e some weight in it whilst under load (foot down),

Here are the fault codes:
1 Fault Found:

00561 - Mixture Adaptation
12-00 - Adaptation Limit (Mul) Exceeded

I cleared the last fault monday and its all clear so far, will have to fill up tomorrow so see what happens !!

It seemed to be ok till i put on the simota carbon induction kit + upgraded recirculating bov. but i didnt have vag-com then so cant say for sure.

Ive yet to clean the maf sensor and put in a set of S3 210bhp spark plugs .
