Engine code???

I've just enquired about a new clutch and the guy has asked for an engine code, its a 1999 1.8T avante.

Does he mean the engine number or is ther another number which will refer to that specific model of engine??

Yeah, three digits, such as APU or AEB. Remove the plastic engine top cover with the 3 twist fittings, and there's a small ally tag on the head near the front with it on.

If you look in the spare wheel well there should be a white sticker. This has the engine and transmission codes and all the options fitted to the car
