Im thinking of buying a 1996-2000 A4 but really dont want to spend too much money on maintnence. I want a nice car, like the A4, but I want it to be reliable.

So with that being said:

1. What are the Common Problems that I might expect when buying a A4?
example: Timing Belt, Pistons, ect...
and around what milage should I expect it?

2. Im your opinion...is it a Reliable car?

Im a newbe to Audi's so I would really appreciate the help. Thanks.

its a good Reliable car if its been looked after and serviced it will last forever, timing belt at 80k, susp arms are crap and will need replacing if they havent been allready. maf sensors can fail, coilpacks. im sure others will add to my list. have a good search on the forum mate.

trip computer display often plays up, front suspension arms, bits of corrosion around the bootlid handle. prob best to avoid quattros if you want cheaper running costs- they are a bit more complicated. check the aircon+heater works properly too. but they are pretty good cars, reliable and nice to drive. good luck!
