hi s4sh, i am sure you investigated the installation of a OEM NAV system. do you know if this is difficult retrofit on a 01 s4?

its not easy, a few things have to be removed from the car. If you know your way round the car and are comfortable removing seats etc then you should be ok. There is a link to an excellent retro installation guide here:

I'm looking to upgrade systems as well. Have you been able to locate an S4 systems?

If not do you know if it is possible to just change the trim on the A6 model so it will fit the S4?

I think you can only use the correct model for your car but i may be wrong, ive being looking for models with serial numbers beginning with '8D0', these are the ones for the s4/a4 1995 - 2000 or 2001.

Its hard enuff fitting the parts and wiring in for the sat nav units, you also want to change the trim of one of these units?? You nutter!

I mentioned to AMD that i wanted retro fit an audi sat nav unit and they laughed at me. They suggested doing a custom install with a better unit. Only reason i havent is cos i have'nt seen any custom jobs on A4/S4s that look good IMO. If anyone out there with custom installs for a4/s4 can show me some pics that would be mucho appreciated.
