Hi Guys,

Going to attempt an oil change on my mates Audi A4 1996 Diesel 1.9 90 bhp.....

Is There any guides anywhere or is there any tips i need to know.

Done oil changes on my own petrol golf and petrol audi but not on a diesel.

Is there anything particular I need to know?

Rich

Just about the same as any petrol car, except you add a suitable oil for a diesel engine. You will have to remove the engine trays to access the sump plug, and the oil filter is easier to get to from underneath the car. Thats about it really.

Very straight forward job, as has already been said, you will need to remove the under-engine tray to get access to the sump plug...
It is recommended to renew the copper washer on the sump plug each time the oil is changed (have to confess I haven't always done this though!!!).
Worth using a Genuine oil filter IMHO, and I always fill the new filter 3/4 full of clean oil before putting it back on car......

hi guys,

thanks for the advice, its all been done last weekend...

all good.... no tray under neath to get move at all...

plus the filter is easier to access from the top! it was a beast tho! :)

its the older shape (p reg - 1996 model) so not sure if the tray was added later and the filter moved more underneath!

Washer was replaced as well!

Was a very very easy job all in!

Cheers
