Viscous fan bearing

Hi, After replacing the three drive belts and tensioner, my APU 1.8T sounds even more like a diesel
I thnk the noise is now narrowed down to the viscous fan bearing.
How easy is this to replace? Does it involve replacing the unit, or can it be broken down - looking for the easiest option !

The haynes manual for the A4 covers this, looks like you have to replace the whole fan and bearing
