I've just bought a Saab 9-3 Aero which, for those who don't know (or don't care!!), is a front wheel driven 2 litre turbocharged (210bhp) car.

I've come to you guys as an ex-audi owner to ask how you get the best traction from your A4 1.8T's.

I'm looking to chip it to 250bhp so traction will be a problem!!!

Also does anyone know of any engine chippers apart from AMD and Superchips that will do custom chips?

Thanks,

The car has traction control but I was really wondering if maybe certain tyres were particularly good for FWD cars.

Has anyone heard of angeltuning. Seem to give good power gains for not much money?

Never heard of them. Id always be carefull of tuners that claim huge power gains for not a lot of cash!!

I dont know anything about angel tuning so wouldnt like to coment! But from experence it tends to paty to spend that little extra.

Have you tried on here http://www.saabcentral.com as I would imagine there would be peeps that would know more about saabs!!

I must look rather stupid asking about Saabs on an Audi site so just to clarify this forum is one of the most active around and so I thoughts I'd try to gather some varied information.

Also you Audi boys seem to mod your cars more than Saab onwers. Probably comes down to age of owners!!

Lol think you could be right about age of owners /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Do a search on here - loads of threads about tyre choices..... personally (and know others on here have them), Goodyear Eagle F1's GSD3's are a good tyre...

Never heard of them so cant comment, sorry

Worry more about torque output than bhp for traction. With it being turbo'd you'll find it's got a decent lump of torque.

i changed my tyres from khumos to toyos and found that the grip changed dramatically.
fwd 300ib/ft torque.

For the tuning, try Hirsch as well - recommended by Saab and won't invalidate any manufacturer warranty that's left (it's actually downloaded throught the diagnostic at the dealers). Apparently last month, Saab dealers were offering a discounted Hirsch remap as a sweetener for the 9-3, reduced to £599 from £850 (and we thought Audi stealers were dear!) but as Daveiow's said, saabcentral's your best bet for info.

I would strongly recommend hirsch, also abbott racing, slightly cheaper, also specialise in saabs
