Oil sump plug and filter?

Hi, I've not long bought a new car, first Audi in the family We can't find where the sump plug to change the oil is and also want to know where the oil filter is, I've read you need a certain tool for the sump plug but am not sure if that's correct? Any help would be great in the location to find the sump plug and changing the oil, is just your usual oil fine for an Audi A4 (2000)??

Sump plug is just a 17mm bolt on the bottom edge of the sump. Exact location depends on the engine and year.

Required oil depends on which engine is fitted, and you didnt specify that! Same with filter location

Hey, thanks for the reply I'm not so good with cars, my dad usually helps out but he's never had an Audi himself, it's an Audi A4/S4, 2000 model, the engine is 1.8L, 92kw output, is that all the info for knowing what I need to know?? If not, where (and at the risk of sounding a bit dim!) do I find what engine is fitted?

youll find a sticker like this in the boot under the carpet. It tells you the engine code, gearbox, power, and the three letter/number codes are what should be fitted. I've decoded a few here

This is the sticker I found, it was in the book that came with my car, I actually saw it earlier when going through the info trying to find out the info (engine, year etc) but didn't realise it listed all that info. Thanks for writing out the codes you decoded, I have printed them out to keep for future reference and to see what matches, I'll try searching on Google for any different codes, hopefully I'll have some luck!

Drain plug should be here:

It might be on the opposite side though, in a similar place.

Oil filter is on the side of the engine, underneath the coolant reservoir. If you remove the tank and tip it forward you can get into it.

I use the B6 one, which is a wee bit wider and a wee bit longer than the normal B5 part.

Some folk use the transporter one which is bigger still.
