I am going to pick up the S4 today 98 on an S plate. rang my insurer - Halifax to change cover from my A31.8t only to be told that they dont cover such cars.!!!!!!

I have 9 years protected no claims, am 48 yrs young no current points on my licence (god knows how!!). how much should I pay for a standard model and then for a declared REmap.

Names of suggested insurers gratefully received

Thanks

Jimbo

Hi mate, I used to use a "specialist insurer" called Keith Michaels PLC - they can be very good, I only left because I once had a Q plate Fiesta RS1800 car and they wouldn't touch it. www.keithmichaels.co.uk/

More recently I tried that confused.com for my A4 - very good that turned out to be. Saved me a few hundred quid, plus saves you ringing round or entering details online over & over again.

Give Adrian Flux a call, they were happy to cover my remap as well. £90 increase for the year over standard premium. Oh and they didnt charge any extra for the lowering springs or DV, when i did them.

I've found that Tesco or Elephant can be quite good for those type of cars! Also get a further 10% off Tesco for going online!
My Friend has a S2 insured through Elephant at hte moment, but used Tesco previously. He's 25, but has had car for a couple of years

see here , good website, i got a quote of £230 from post office (through insuresupermarket link).

elephant are cheap...until you want them to pay up. then you will feel like you have been f£cked by one!

Tell you a trick I found, I recon this may be because of my age, but if I add my mother on the insurance as a named driver, for some reason it is quite a bit cheaper!

It is indeedy, also if your with direct line and you have her under the named main driver, it's even cheaper. You still get no claims discount aswell /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
