Evening all,

Would it be advisable to upgrade the turbos on an engine with 160k miles on it with K04's?? I don't want mega power, maybe 350bhp. Engine is running fine, been well looked after as well.

Have put a deposit on a house so now will have a garage, so I want to put it too some use an gut the S4, clean her up and maybe respray her.

Thanks in advance,

Bob

Yeah but will the engine take it? Or is it just a risk I'd have to take? I know its a bit of a wishy washy question.

2nd hand low mileage engines can be got in Germany for a few grand, so i may look at that.

What bolt on's.

I'll assume down pipes and full exhaust system and a remap?

Get the compression checked and see if it's in spec. I don't know the tolerances but someone with access to elsawin will. If it's within spec it should be good for more power.

Or take it to a tuning specialist who knows the 2.7 well and get them to perform a health check.

Once you up the power it may be advisable to reduce the service interval on other bits due to the extra strain.

Sounds like a plan,

Thanks Sulli

350bhp on k03s will put the turbos on there limits...Belongs its been maintained regular you should be fine to go k04 route....Could also hybrid your k03s and make 380bhp but will max injectors! but also a cheaper option and less stress on your engine :icon_thumright:

If you're not chasing power and you're willing to settle for a little less than 350hp (say 330), just put some new/refurbed KO3's in, would save a pretty penny over using 4's.
