someone was asking about this (cant remember who but this is the routing for the 1999> B5's
oress and hold the right hand button on your clocks
switch ignition on
release button
the words service or service in xxxx will appear in the trip recorder diplay turn the left button to the left to clear the display
then it will display service in 10-000 miles

switch ignition off

btw this wont work for cars on longlife service intervals as there dealer reset

On the earlier A4's (1997 and before) the service light can only be reset by having a service reset tool (box with cable that fits into the VAGCOM socket). Thereafter I have little idea as I got someone to do it for me
 
beaten to it lol

for a 98-99 car btw its as follows

right button on clocks press and hold it
switch ignition on till oil comes up on display

let the button go


pull out the left button for 2 seconds to reset display
