Since I bought my car, it has had quite a bad oil leak and Ive been using Castrol GTX I know, I know tut tut n all that but its worked fine, I do have 5 litres of the correct grade oil along with filters oil/fuel etc, but Iam now worried that its gonna pi$$ out like a sieve being thinner oil, I did put some stop oil leak in and i=only ****** cured it! so hopefully it wont, Iam also gonna buy a new clean inlet off addamms 24 and EGR delete the git so I will keep you up to speed on the filthy task I face ( I love old oil tbh) lol but gonna Gunk the engine dodown and locate the leak hopefully

what is the "correct" oil you've bought?

It shouldnt be any thinner than the Castrol if its the right stuff.

No sorry for confusion mate, the Castrol is 10/40 the other is synthetic 5 somat cost me bout £40 odd quid for a gallon

The first digit is the cold viscosity, and doesnt really matter all that much.

The second number is the hot viscosity.

so 10w40 and 5w40 are the same once hot.
