Hi all,

This will be my first of many help threads I'm sure! I had some AP coilovers fitted to my 2000 TQS by a very experienced VAG specialist yesterday, very straightforward, no trouble with any seized bolts etc, however now I'm getting a very faint light knocking noise from the rear when going over rougher terrain i.e a bumpy gravel road - I didn't have this before and I don't get any knock when traveling on smooth roads at all. All bolts were triple checked and both axels were pre loaded prior to torquing up the bolts to stop bush stretch where needed.. it almost sounds like the knock you get from worn ARB bushes, only my rear bushes look pretty solid..

Any thoughts? I'm not really familiar with the rear end of a TQS, but I'm tempted to put some replacement ARB bushes in and see, but if its still there, are there any other common wear points, drop links etc??

Cheers Bradderz.. see I wondered about that, I have no idea what the rear top mounts are like on these, but if they're as durable as the fronts I can't see they'd need doing, my car's just ticked over 100k and the front mounts looked practically new even though I replaced them, the front shocks still had that little washer in for the locator so don't think the suspension has ever been off... plus I would maybe expect to get even just a slight knock when going on smoother roads and I don't.. literally only when on uneven surfaces..

edit* from what I recall there aren't any rubber rear top mounts as such are there? the top of the shock just bolts through the mounting bracket and then bracket back onto car?

Correct yes they do, its normally the front wheel drives that suffer from the rear top mounts id also check how the springs are sitting on the stop cups id get under the car have a good look at all the bushes etc.
