Another clonk? Felt through steering column

When changing directions whne for example negotiating a roundabout I get a clonk which you can feel through the steering column. It's quite disconcerting and also when I turn the steering wheel to the right and rock the wheel you can feel what seems to be play. Dispite having changed every arm and the TCA's with Lemforder items I have recheked the lot and found not so much as a fraction of play, it's all tighter than a nuns knickers.

Any ideas? rack itself maybe?

Don't take it as gospel, but I think there is a uj on the actual column, maybe that?
