Post pics of your lowered cars please....

I'm just about to get a new set of springs fitted to my car. I had a Blistein suspension kit fitted that supposedly was going to lower the car 20mm below the Audi sport suspension height - it did not.

The people who make the springs (Ventura), confirmed I had the right springs for my car but admitted there was something wrong and are sending me out a new set of springs.

I'd really appreciate it if anyone could post a pic or direct me to where pictures are of their car that has been lowered by a kit or springs (not coilovers). Any brand.

I want to compare the ride heights of the cars to mine and I want to show these pics to Ventura and the fitters if things don't turn out and let them know this is how it should look.

I will post pics of mine when it is done.

    Many Thanks..

Most people who have had new springs will tell you that they take a few months to bed in and drop the last couple of centimeters.

The kit was fitted in July. I have waited these few months on the advice of the garage that fitted the kit. I couldnt do anything else...Even though back in July, Bilstein UK themselves said this was a load of . They told me once the kit was fitted you only have to roll it up and down the road and it would be as settled as it was ever going to be...

    Thanks for the pic.

I couldnt quite make out how far your tyre is from the arch.

Here is a picture of my front and back at the moment. how close to the arch should the tyre be with a true 40-45 mm drop?

It does look a bit higher in these pics than normal because I am low to the ground looking upwards while taking the pics....

well on mine the front tyre is just about inside the arch and the back isnt far behind. (similar to madkebabs, maybe bit lower at the front)

yours looks higher than mine was on the stock sport stuff i had on before.

Yes. I'm gutted that I have had to wait several months before they admit there is something wrong. I asked Ventura if they are going to cover the fitting cost. I havent heard anything back since and this was over a week ago.

They should do, or ill be really . Geez, I should even be chasing them for compensation of me having to drive around in a car thats jacked up like a 4x4 for the past couple of months....

I have Prokit springs on and it dropped the car about as low as a sport, Could people measure their cars arch to floor front and back to give us all an idea what we are to aim for. I have mine at 26 inches floor to arch front and rear on OEM 16 Inch rims.

Will post a pic tomorrow as i don't have a current one since i "Modified" the front ride height as it was over 27 inches on the front

I would say they have supplied you with S4 spings which infact rase the car not lower it.

send them some pics of here to prove the point with yours plus our comments.

    2.8 on H&R springs

    1.8T on standard sport springs

Re: Post pics of your lowered cars please....

After giving this a little more thought I recon you may even have the Avant springs, which are geared for heavier cars as the rise in the back is huge bigger than a standard SE.

When you fit lowered springs the car should have dropped straight away then settled in to its final position after a few weeks, not raise the car like yours.

Re: Post pics of your lowered cars please....

They originally sent me the springs for a different car - I asked them to check the part numbers and I had the springs for (what he said) was a b5 A4 2.6. I questioned why this would matter about the height and he gave me an unconvincing statement that I don't really recall. I just said to send me the correct springs. these new springs they sent are now on the car.

I have checked the part numbers of the current springs with Bilstein in germany and Euro car parts in the UK and they are the right part numbers for my car - a 96 1.8t.

I don't really want to spend any more $ on the car but if they then replace the springs again and it is still the same height. I will have to buy something else anyway.

I am wondering now that as Ventura are going to pay for the fitting, should I just get the garage to fit a set of eibach springs instead just to ensure I get a proper drop, whilst obvioulsy not letting ventura know..but still getting them to pay for the fitting..

I would just get them to fit one of the rear spings and if it is still no lower then tell them to wait to leave it till you get the Eibachs.

Re: Post pics of your lowered cars please....

I currently have stock sports springs (lowered by 20mm front & rear from standard). The springs were ordered through Audi and it was lowered on the day I collected the car (2.4L).

Ideally I would prefer it slightly lower but I'm happy as it is especially when it comes down to ride quality (for me ride quality comes first). My only dislike is the front being higher than the rear. At the moment I'm reluctant to spend more money to replace the springs to have it lowered further.

Thanks a lot technics and everyone else.

It seems most people are getting good drops out of their springs it definatly improves the look of the car.

I will post pics of mine when these new springs are fitted and hopefully my whole situation has been sorted out.

    Vaulter Tim:

With coilovers its hard to know exactly how much its been lowered, around 100mm at a rough guess. The rears are all the way down, the fronts are designed to go about another 30mm but it would be too low to drive

Lowride - Cool... looks pretty low at the back and overall is perfect I think

Technics100 - where did you get the lower bumper grille for your car??? Looks to be a perfect match for the RS4 bonnet grille and I'm very interested in getting hold of some to match mine...

    Cheers guys

OK, Now on the third set of springs. Had them installed yesterday, Bilstein payed the bill.

I think you'll agree the car is sitting way too high still.

I am pulling my hair out with frustration. This is about the most annoying thing that has ever happened.

I have contacted the spring maker and am awaiting a response....

P.S. Sorry for the crap picture but you can see there is a good 50-60 mm gap between the trye and the wheel arch.

The ride heights of the car are 380mm front and 375mm back. Could anyone do me a favour? whoever has a 40mm drop, can you measure the ride heights of your car (centre of wheel to rim of the arch) ?

    Thanks...
