Hi all

New to this car maintenance lark and just wondering how long this job should take me and if there is any tools in particular I will require?

Cheers

You will need a brake caliper rewind tool or a piece of thin flat wood and a g cramp to push the piston back in and some times it advised to undo the lid on the brake fluid res as the fluid is forced back into it but be carefull it doen,t overflow.Time taken will depend on how long it takes to undo the caliper bolts and the harder ones are the carrier mounting bolt, use the longest leverage bar you can.

One hour each side plus a cup of tea in the middle. Decent quality tools epsecially the allen bit to remove the pins that carry the pads. Watch out for the wear sensor cable and how it sits in its holder. Torque everything back up and enjoy one of the best upgrades that can done in two hours. Get your pads and discs from All German Parts in Leeds.

Invest in a 7mm Draper Allen key brake tool. Essential bit of kit. Also Lockheed red grease (to lube slide bolts). Remember to thoroughly clean everything prior to installation, and wipe new discs with methylated spirit.

You dont NEED the 7mm allen key, you can take the whole caliper off as a complete unit, and refit as a complete unit. Its worthwhile to use the 7mm key though, as it means you can take the sliders out, clean them up and regrease them.
