    Blown my Turbo oh Bummer!!

    So i have Blown one of my Turbos, so my question is, is a repair kit worth getting, or should i just by new turbo??

    Do i have to take the engine out, or is there a way to get it without removing the engine??

    It is a engine out job so do the other jobs that are necessary/viable whilst the engine is out, this would be a good time to go K04 !!!!

    hmm K04 it is then, if i fit those will that then entail a remap?

    you can get the turbo out with out engine out cant you!?

    think its an S4 which is engine out, 1.8t is engine in.

    Yeah as sulli79 says S4 is engine out as the turbos are buried further back more or less at the back of the heads, 1.8T has enough room to pull turbo although front end off is a must for more access as the oil return pipe has to be removed from sump then manoeuvred out from between the a/c pump and starter again bit fiddly but do able depends on your way off removal my ths decat is abit of a pain to remove from the turbo due to the angle it was welded of the flange so i have to remove the downpipe and pull the turbo with the decat.

    you will gain more from a remap iirc 300+bhp, but you can also run on the stock map but with no significant bhp gain just better throttle response/spool and possibly a more flat power/boost curve. Have a look on SRS theres some for sale on there but there not cheap lol

    I wouldnt think running a K04 on the stock map is a wise move on the S4.

    running bigger turbos on stock psi will yeild more net power, so be worth doing if youve got it out

    Only if the rest of the fuelling system and mapping will keep up....

    Otherwise you go lean and break stuff.

    It might work ok, but why risk it?

    the car was remapped to 350 BHP anyway if i recall i have the info somewhere, probably why one of the turbos went boom if there the K03 as i presume they are, but i really dont know to be exact

    on stock psi your not changing flow rate, just mass, so i asume its just the same as sticking a big fmic on, a bigger turbo is more effeciant
    so creates less pressure resulting in my oxygen compared to a smaller turbo.

    i would remap any way . least that way your getting the best from the k04's

    Thanks all for the help, i think i will go K04 then, probably run stock for a bit and drive carefully till i have more money for a remap
