Compatibility of prefacelift wings with/without oval Audi badge

Can anyone tell me if a 98 Pre-Facelife wing will look right on a '97 Avant Quattro that currently has the oval Audi badge below the indicator repeater?

I know the rub strip changed shape during the facelift, but did it also change or move when the Audi badge was removed?

I'm in the Highlands with no breakers nearby so I can't check before buying.

...and before you say it, I can't afford to do a full facelift conversion at the moment.

it'll fit, but iirc the wings with the oval dont have the lower door blade/strip, the wings without the oval do.

Not sure if removing the strip will leave a hole though.

Do you mean the black plastic trim at the bottom of the door? Like in the current group buy?

If you do, the current wings with the oval have them on so that will be OK.

yeh, our '96 had oval badges but didnt have those door trims. I figured they changed at the same time, but evidently not!
