I am going to be starting a new job shortly and vastly increasing the miles i do and will be getting rid of my petrol 2.8 B5 q and am looking to buy a V6 diesel q which in standard trim gives 150bhp, i will be looking to improve on this but funds are limited, what are my options and roughly what sort of money am i looking at, and who should i got to, i am on the south coast.

Take a look on websites such as "superchips" for vague figures.
If your going for a 2.5TDi, make sure you are fully aware of the common issues;
Camshaft wear, crankcase breather, fuel pump.etc

Ok, this has been discussed a few times, I have been ferrying the family about all week to and from football. I have covered 540 miles and still have over 1/4 tank. good for another 150 miles. I am still using winter tyres as well. I have a perforfance mapped AYM 155 BHP A6, also got 200BHP.
I thought most the 2.5 TDI Q were 180?? Might be wrong!

Thanks for replies, i know about the the pump and cam issues etc, just have to choose carefully!! The B5 cars only got the 150 bhp engines as far as i know, the early A6 got 150 then upgraded to 180 in the later cars, that engine never got into B5 was in the B6.

The 1.9 i would love but in B6, budget dictates a B5 however.
