tqs clutch inpectiuon/options

remind me, becasue i havent wrote it down and cant seem to find were you posted it,

using a lt van pressure plate and v8 friction plate

Two of the VW LT van engines (ATA and AGK) uses the same cover plate as the S2.

The clutch plate itself from the VW clutch doesnt work with the Audi box, but you can use any Audi 240mm clutch plate.

I bought a Sachs clutch kit for an LT van cheap off ebay, then bought a clutch plate for an S4 V8 and nailed them together.

Thanks braderz. I have some bids saved in ebay. To much of a pain the link. But is there a part number for the pressure plate.
Altho i think i found one or two plus a friction plate white is apprently a genuine one but again a part number for the v8 one would be good as ive found a few but diffrent numbers so if i could make sure there then im good to go

Pressure plate - 035 141 118X
Friction disc - 034 141 032M

IIRC there about £100 each from TPS but was awhile back when i priced them, may have been discontinued by now !!

You need to bear in mind that there are various LT 240mm clutch covers but only the ATA/AGK ones work due to there 'Flat' Flywheel design id be giving parts depo a call giving them the number for the pressure plate see if they have one lying about thats not listed as thats were i sourced mine from you may get lucky and find they have another.

Ill reply properly in 20 mins when i get to a pc but been qouted 130-150 by specialised engines in essex

ive found lt pressure plate and also a genuine clutch plate just wanted to match up numbers

right well that was the worlds longest 20 mins,
any way ive discovered the ata and agk engine is the 2.8tdi version,

but

im struggling to find just the pressure plate.

ive found the clutch plates

which you linked

so i pursume this isnt the correct one but is there a possibility it is? certaly looks like the pressure plate ive seen

ooooooooooor

i just see if this guy can come up trumps
Panther Clutch Kit AUDI S2 2.2 Quattro Turbo 90-92 | eBay

The one listed for the sharan/a3 wont work, ask the guy to send you pics of the clutch you would recieve if you bought it of him.

Ok no problem ill ask.

Still struggling to find a ata/agk pressure plate.

This is turning out to be harder then first thought.
Kinda makes me want to take the easy road and buy a valeo smf kit!

Thing is with the valeo if the clutch wears out for whatever reason or gets contaminated you cant buy the clutch single iirc i may be wrong though ??

have you messaged partsdepot on ebay ??

yer parts depo have nothing for a s2 clutch

isnt it a 228mm disc? then any 228mm disc would work?

thing is it would make it easier to have a reg number for said van that i need the clutch and pressure plate for but not knowing what van has a ata or agk for sure, altho im sure its a vw lt 2.8 tdi but not entirely sure. is there anything you can spot on ebay? just need the pressure plate now.

and some were that dosnt want to charge me £150 to drill 9 holes and clean the surface! i could drill and tap the holes for less and then have it skimmed for £30

just out of intrest, how come any other clutch pressure plate wont fit? or is it just because this flywheel fits and only s2 or lt pressure plate fits? just wondered if there was any other 240mm pressure plates that were like that a3/sharan one. are they not the same total diameter?

also any ideas on a good machine shop in kent/se london area.

Some flywheels are 'sunk' were the frction disc runs so the pressure plate fixings arent inline 'flat' with the actual pressure plate, were as the 1Z flywheel being flat the pressure plate is almost flat at the friction surface to clamp the friction disc. If that makes any sense lol

I just remebered you could just bolt a 228mm audi 80 clutch kit on and have done with it i think arrkon has done this.

now you tell me lol

ok so thats a 3rd option there, erm vaguely remember seeing that some were. ok so any audi 80 kit? or am i looking for magic enigne number again????

think arrkon used a 1.9tdi clutch suited for the 1Z flywheel so theres no drilling you can just have it skimmed.

ok, now i wonder if there are any uprated clutch kits? think this "may" have to be the way to go.

right now im in no postion to start getting big power for now, so i guess i could fit a 1.9 clutch, and hunt down the parts at a later date, could even source a 2nd 1z flywheel and have it done in my own time when im not worrying when my clutch will dump on me.

edit just to clarify, are we taking a audi 80 1.9tdi or a audi a4 1.9tdi

i absolutely knew i shouldn't have linked that flywheel here, well if someone from here has offered the guy a price to out bid me then hope your proud with you self. quite selfish if you ask me

but then if it isnt then fair enough

but to be safe im not linking any clutch kits or flywheels or what ever just to be safe

looks like im left with very little options now

1, valeo smf
2, clutch to suit my car dmf

opinions in the new light of no 1z flywheel. is there any other flywheels that fit?

TTV racing flywheel to take S4/RS4 clutch kit but your talking some beer tokens did you PM B5QUAT ?? Think he got one for sale thats if hes not already sold it !!

EDIT : B5QUAT has an ecs flywheel but is the same setup !

I hadnt but i have now. But says he aint been on in 4 days. Ha he got a 1z or ecs flyweel? I guess the ecs flywheel has the correct dowls and bolt holes? What would i expect to pay for that ? £130-150?

the ecs flywheel is specially machined for the 1.8T to take a S4/RS4 clutch kit so it bolts straight on with no fuss as for price there not cheap iirc so it depends on what he wants for it but hes a top bloke so iguess you could settle a deal between your selves think he has a RS4 clutch aswell but he certainly doesnt need it as he has a TT now but id hurry as hes sold the TQS on to someone local so he may end up selling it on to him if he gets interested lol

yer thats cool. just the way the holes look very close to the edge. and dosnt look as thick as a duel mass.

maybe hes refering it as a kit to swap a duel mass, and worded it wrong. ive sent a message and placed a bid.

clutch plate has springs too, the DMF plate doesnt.

You seem to be really overcomplicating this whole thing. Pick one approach and follow it thru. If you'd bought the flywheel when you saw it, you'd just need to source a pressure plate, which worse case is ~£100 new from the dealer.

when i saw it it was a auction, not a fixed price, your names not Michael Radcliffe by any chance is it?

and i would pick a route if the rug wasnt pulled from my feet. and whats the point of buying a clutch pressure and friction
plate "before" i know i have a good flywheel to use.

to be fair i dont care what way i go, ill see what this guy says and if it is infact a duel mass flywheel then shame but will have to see.

so whats the deal with the valeo smf kit? are we saying thats no good?

People are trying to help your decision but if you cant make one then is the rant really all worth it ???

you need a setup in mind and go with it !!

if you go with one of the 1Z flywheels i PM'd you then all in all it would be roughly £150 for the flywheel and pressure plate !!

No lol, my names kev.

Flywheels are easy enough to find, i stuck a post up on S2 forums last time and had two within a week.

valeo kit uses specific valeo parts, which dont seem to be available seperately. IE if you kill it, you cant just buy a new clutch, which sort of defeats the whole purpose of replacing the flywheel with a single mass.

Just set out gathering parts for a 1Z conversion it will be less hassle as clutches can be sourced if you kill it off the flywheel will last the life of the car it will give you stock pedal feel and is a good setup better than any of the other cheap options out there, your not building a monster of a car so it will meet your requirements and can be done for around £300 if not cheaper !!

yer ive pm'd you aragorn

im still set for the 1z set up. i was a little ****** off i lost out on that one.

any way as bradderz pm'd me two diffrent ones, plus a kit that could well be a single mass,

but if you could tell me what one would work that would be good

Either of your flywheels would work, but they seem a bit pricey to me. I wouldnt want to pay much more than 30-40quid delivered. They're not much more than £100 new afaik, so no point paying ~£70 for a used one?

ok so a abk flywheel works? thought it was only 1z flywheels, wish i had enough knowledge to search for this stuff!

are audi s2 flywheels the same as the 1z flywheel im looking for? as you said you asked for a fly wheel on the s2 forums, and ive found a s2 1z flywheel

you say there easy to find but im struggling
