Hi all,

Just had my MOT done on my 2.5 TDI and one of the tie rod ends needed replacing. The steering wheel now points to the right very slightly whilst driving straight.

Any ideas on whether taking it to be tracked properly will cure this?

Do I require 4 wheel alignment on this model?

Any reputable places in the Nottingham area that can achieve this?

Regards,

Grant

Is it Quattro or two wheel drive?

I've had experience with the Quattro 4 wheel alignment, I don't know if non-Quattro is the same
It cost me £80-£100 each go. I've had it done twice on both cars, first time was not done properly but I didn't notice!
Second time I needed to change the rear tie arms as the adjustment bolts were seized. (some gen here How to replace front and rear suspension parts (with pics) if you want to see the full story)

Your fault should be cured with a 'Kwik-Fit' front wheel tracking job, but the 4 wheel alignment was well worth it once done properly and I would recommend it if you can find somewhere good - it was like driving a different car!

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.

Tyres have always looked good with no signs of uneven wear. It's just the off-centre steering wheel thats annoying me right now! Really off-putting.
