What is this extra peice? can anyone help?

Good evening,

I needed to replace my current scuttle panel on the car for one reason or another, I have just received my replacements and a 3rd part has come with it? I don't have this extra piece on the car at the moment so I have no idea where it belongs.

I would be very grateful if anyone could help me with this before I begin fitting it, its the top piece in the below picture, I have no idea where this bit fits??

My car is a 1997 A4 Avant

It fits over the airfilter, behind the bottom bit of plastic in the photo

kinda like a drip tray over the bottom of the cabin filter, passenger side.
