I have a 1999 A4 quattro. The outer CV boots were torn. Ive split the driveshaft and replaced the boot. I also want to renew the flange oil seal insde the gearbox but cant get the stubby part of the driveshaft out. Can anyone explain how to do this.

its essentially pressed into the bearing inside the box, you'll need to use a pry bar or puller or similar to get it out.

Thanks for your message. Will it slide out if pulled with some force?

yes, but you'll need a slide hammer or similar, pulling it with your hand isnt going to do anything.

As for getting it back in... good luck :p

This is a job i havent done before. Any advice on how to get it back in?
