Hi, I'm quite new around here and new to audis!
I bought a high mileage A4 Tdi recently and was rather chuffed with my purchase until i drove it home!
She has very little torque and was like a slug on the motorway. I noticed the oil light flashed and immediately put her into my local garage to have her checked out. They advised that the oil pressure sensor has been disconnected at some point?? They said the turbo didn't seem to be working and did a clean up ( cleaned the turbo and EGR). My garage has been great over the years with my cars - i'm not dissing them one bit. When i collected the car they said i should drive her for a few days and that the more driving she got the clearer the turbo etc would get. Well - it's day two now and the lack of power is just the same. The oil light which is supposed to be disconnected still is flashing and beeping at me intermittently.
I've read loads of threads re. oil pressure sensor etc. and am now really worried that i'm maybe making things worse by driving her?

Has anybody had any experience of this? How come the oil pressure light is flashing if it's disconnected?? I'm at a total loss - worse still - i love the ****** car now and really want to keep her and tart her up a bit!! I'm terrified to put it into an Audi garage because i know they're really expensive!

Thanks for reading - any ideas greatly appreciated:yes:

What oil warning is it? Theres a few different ones and the severity of the issue will depend on which it is.

Red and three beeps = potentially bad.
Yellow and one beep = likely less bad.

The pressure sensor should NOT be disconnected, if its faulty it needs replaced, they're about a tenner and are there to save you damaging the engine should there be a fault.

Dont go near an Audi garage, if you want to take it somewhere then you want to use a decent independent specialist that deals with Audis.

The missing power could be a number of things, there could be a fault in the boost control system (broken N75, perished pipes etc), the turbo vanes could be siezed, could be a bad air flow meter. What you really need to do is get the car scanned with VCDS and see what the ECU thinks is wrong with itself, then use that to narrow down the fault.

What exact model is it?

Hi Aragorn, thanks for your reply. It's an A4 1.9 TDi - 2000 on an X plate. It's the red & three beep number. My garage seem to think i'm imagining that the oil light is doing this as it's been disconnected. This in itself is worrying? How can it be beeping etc when it's disconnected?

I'm trying desperately to find an independent specialist in my area - the nearest one i can find is in Clydebank and i'm not sure if they would come out to West Fife (it's a bit of a jaunt!).

Update : I changed the oil pressure switch and put comma diesel magic in tank - ran ****** great over weekend and start of the week... bah humbug.. back to square 1 now:think: I think the car is full of 'gunk'. I'm waiting for my garage to advise cost of full service and i want them to drop the sump to clean out the pick up...i only hope that works.
I'm hoping that the injectors are ok as there's no smoke or anything ...just running like a damn slug on tranq's again.
God..... i wish i'd kept the Skoda.....almost!

And so the saga continues! Now had the sump & pick up cleaned out, new oil filter, turbo cleaned (again!!) - a bit better but still holding back. I've sent hubby out in it with strict instructions to gun every gear to at least 3000. If it doesn't feel any better i'm planning on trying the Mr. M at the weekend - just need to raid hubbards van for some 3mm tubing! This has now become an obsession lol! It's the 66kw 90bhp AHH model. I've now ordered the EGR blank plate from Ebay and a Haynes manual - hubbard thinks i've lost the plot and i should sell the damned thing asap - thing is, it's gotten right under my skin! It's years since my hands were this manky but it feels good to be rooting about in my toolbox again!!
