So i finally have found the problem with leaking oil on my Audi when i drive it steady i never smell any oil burning, however if i boot it, then the smell starts.

So i took it to a garage who is a friend of mine, and he has told my that both turbos are leaking oil.

My guessing is this is going to be expensive? does it have to be an engine out job? is there anywhere who can recommend for this issue in West Yorkshire?

I am pretty gutted as i love this car

I use the turbo centre in Leeds, great for me. If it's a 2.7 TT then yeah engine out buddy. Get some K04's on it.

i got this in a post from a well respected member on another car club im on if its any use to you let me know and ill get contact details:

we do upgrades to the std k03 and k04's on s3's s4's etc .

converting them to billet comp wheels with rs6 internals . cutback blades etc.

we do them for around 500 pound a pop on customers existing units. they will come back looking like new and with 12 months warranty.

Well yeah i hear you there, i was told by somebody once there was another way to do it, a company that did it without removing the engine, but i cannot remember who they are

Good luck with that one. Get the engine out, turbo's off and open a can of lager - you deserved it.

To be honest its more trouble & effort to even think about swapping the turbos on a 2.7tt while the engine is still in. Once the engine is out you can access everything easily plus it lets you give everything a good check over, replace certain things and clean as you go. If you can do the work yourself then you are on to a winner.

Andy you need k04's in your life. I predict you will be knocking on the door of the 500bhp club soon ;-)

£500!! Cant be genuine parts for that price. or is it per turbo?

One of the specialists did it a few years ago just to see how it went, and found it took longer than an engine pull. Having done a DIY turbo swap myself, I can't even imagine how they managed that. The access to some of the turbo banjos is ridiculous!
