Intermittent Brake Light issues - please help?

Hi,

I have just purchased an AUDI A4 TDI 110 SE 1896cc, 4dr Diesel Manual (1997 - R) and when following it home I noticed that the brake light on the drivers side was only working some of the time. As this is my first Audi, I though tI would ask if it is a common problem with a common fix?

Any help would be appreciated.

take the bulb out and check the contacts for dirt/corrosion. Also, check the multi plug that powers the lights for dirt etc

Thanks. Have cleaned the contacts and checked the leads that go into the light fitting all seems well at the mo. much appreciated!

tried a new bulb?

If it was the bulb would it not be constantly off?

Cleaning contacts etc hasn't fixed it permanently. I'll try a new bulb. Any suggestions of that doesn't work chaps?

I've had a bulb act up in a similar manner. Eventually it did properly blow, but for a few weeks before that it randomly triggered the bulb warning.
