Central Locking - keys sending - car not receiving?

Hi all,
sorry, it's another central locking Q as I cannot find this one in previous posts...

basically, my remote key has never worked - I finally decided to get this checked.
a key programming specialist checked my 2 keys and one of his new/recon ones and even though the keys were sending,
there was no response fron the car.

My central locking pump works for all doors, get the horn/alarm bleep on locking - but no flash from the indicators.

so - what can be checked next? do receivers fail and can this be checked in VCDS?

maybe the pumps been changed at some point, and a non-remote ones been used?

perhaps..
my pump has 3 connector blocks for wiring and what I believe to be the receiver under rear bench seat
no idea how to test any of it though!

The thing under the bench is just the control unit for the ultrasonics.

Look on the pump for the part number, or connect with vagcom and read the part number out there.

8l0 862 257 G is the pump part number you should have for remote c/l (or possibly 8l0 862 257 with no letter suffix if it's 97 spec)
Anything else probably isn't remote compatable

Seems I have a 8L0 862 257 A in there - i'll try swapping for a 'G' version
