Is it possible to upgrade non heated mirrors to heated ones, I can't believe that they supplied electric mirrors without heating them aswell but it would appear that this is the case.

my a4 didnt have heated mirrors as standard, although all the wiring is there, all i did was buy the heated glass from audi and plug it in, simple as that.
Common problem with early A4s.
They seem to be powered all the time when the ignition is on and hence burn out the element.
Later models have a temp sensor on them that only allow them to heat when the temp is below 5 Deg or so.
There was a mod on the forum where someone had wired them into the heated rear window circuit, makes more sense to have it like that. Shame Audi didn't do it from the start!

I did that on my old A4 as I went though 3 sets of mirrors even with the temp sender. The mod is on audiworld.com
