2.6 Quattro - Airflow meter or throttle body?

Hi to all,

My Car is still going well, now up 185K.

Steering rack just replaced (ouch!)

New problem - When cold the engine fires up fine and idles correctly, however at low speeds is very jerky.

The car cruises fine but seems to have lost nearly all responsiveness.

It uses minimal oil, no water loss and is regualry serviced so i do not think it is the engine. Could it be the throttle body and /or the air flow meter?

Any help would be appreciated.

I believe that the orginal fuel filter is still in residence!!

However it is getting changed on Monday, along with all the brake disks and pads. Just as well its only money!

What would you suggest is best to clean the air meter with?

Will give it a go. I am assuming the Airflow meter is the 'thingy' in the induction piping just ahead of the air filter box.

All completed plus fuel injector cleaner etc.

Much better.

Now for the suspension.....

This A4 is turning into triggers broom!

I removed and cleaned all of items at the same, so I have no idea which bit was the main culprit !


Thanks again, the MPG has returned to a more useful 35MPG (touring) and there is no jerkiness when cold.

So theres still more life in her yet, who knows may even aim for 200,000!

Ok Rich, as I said above I'm glad you got it sorted. Did the throttle body look particularly dirty/full of junk?

Maybe simply renewing the fuel filter sorted it... it seems to have been a likely candidate if it was the original!
