Hi all, reciently bought an 1999 A4 1.9tdi 189k (90 bhp) Avant which has been off the road for 6 months. Booked in for M O T and drove it over, car ran fine until I got to the garage then it became very lumpy at lidle so I switched it off.
Now it wont start at all just keeps turning over any ideas as to what's up?

Any help would be great.
Cheers

Could be a number of things:

1. Immobiliser (Yellow flashing key symbol on dash on ignition)
2. Run out of fuel (Incorrect fuel guage reading)
3. Fuel filter blocked/air in the fuel lines/water in the fuel
4. Lift pump has packed in AFAIK these engines dont have a fuel pump the fuel is dragged directly from the tank to the engine by the injector pump.

Im sure given enough time you'll get far more detailed answers

hi jonnycraig. It turned out to be the immobilizer all sorted now cheers

Hi Steve, I now have this fault with the immobiliser that Jonny mentions. The yellow flashing key symbol is present and the fault code suggests immobiliser which I expected. When you say it's all sorted, what did you have done to cure the problem?
Cheers

Sorry, auto correct on the iPhone, stevojam and jonnycraig.
