i've searched on the internet and asked a few friends who recommended this site (as they are local-ish for me)
for an Audi A4 (99-01 kit) and these options came up
Specialists in HID conversion kits, HID Xenon Conversions kits & Xenon Bulbs - Xenon HID Headlight Upgrade Kits from HIDs DIRECT Ltd
i was going to buy the ULTRA KIT (£54.99), but having called them asking their opening hours
they said i need the CANBUS-PRO KIT (£59.99) and in the same search (link above)
they do a H7 kit (same box and description) for £49.99.
it seems they charge a 5er for the AUDI name at the beginning of the description and all 3 kits are canbus compatible. :S

HHHEEELLLPPP!!!!!!

Wayne :S :S :S

im running a cheap £30 set from ebay with no issues.

But be aware of the impending MOT changes, you would require self levelling and headlamp wash to pass. (Technically)

I FITTED 2 SETS FROM HAWK ALARMS, ITS THERE OWN DESING AND QUALITY SEEMS TO BE VERY GOOD.
RUNNING THEM NOW ABOUT 8 MONTHS WITH NO PROBLEMS.
LITTLE BIT CHEAPER THAN YOUR SUGGESTION, WITH 2 YEAR WARRANTY ON BALLASTS AND THE LAMPS.
MINE IS A FACELIFT TDI AVANT AND IT DID NOT REQUIRE THE CANBUS ADAPTOR NOT SURE ABOUT YOUR MODEL

Aftermarket hids now fail an mot. This is unless they have self leveling adjustment and automatically wash on every tenth time you use the screen wash.

It makes sense as some retro fitted hids are plane dangerous. I'll admit i'm not sure how they fair on the a4.

mine's a facelift avant 'x'reg. You got the link for the hawk alarms type. As i had a hawk alarm a few yrs ago it it never have me trouble.

Chris, thats true.

HIDs in a reflector lens are dangerous, the light scatters everywhere and the glare just blinds people. plus the useable light is practically ziltch...

Though putting them in the Facelift Projector lamps, although technically a "fail" for the above mentioned reasons, the light spread and beam pattern is only about 1/2 a degree off what the standard current RS4 lamp puts out. From doing a bit of digging with a mate at valeo, the used the same projector lens glass for both the halo and xenon variants, just changing the mounting point for the bulb/burner.

the lens is the same, the reflector bowl however is not.

The HID projector is wider/fatter than the halogen version

Has the manual been ammended then because the wording used if it hasn't means the retro fit HID is NOT a fail item providing beam pattern and aim comply?

The power that be inserted the word "may" when it came to the leveling and washers.

well mine just passed with main and dipped HIDS and my MOT guy is a Nazi when it comes to the rules.

HID's direct are good, good warranty too, I had a balast die and they replaced it asap.

I hear the noise about unsafe-ness and dazzling, but we dont have many chavs round here and I get dazzled buy more Saabs, Mercs and Porsche Cayennes than anything else!!

no one has flashed me (well not for lights anyway :) )

you had HID's in your dip ANDmain beamm... thought due to it "taking a while to warm up" it wasn't safe, but you're using it fine, hmmmm.do you have the CANBUS or NON-CANBUS type.

not sure what the difference is TBH
mine didnt require resistor ballasts if that is what you mean.

I posted a full build thread on here inclduding a video clip of the main beams flashing multiple times.

The flash you get when they are first turned on is actually brighter than the warm up stage and they are more than enough to flash "hello" or "get out of the way"!

i got mine today from AMAZON of all places,
digital ballasts 6000k H7's for my diplights to see if the bulb warning picks them up or HOPEFULLY NOT ;)
do you have the link for ya topic pls,
wayne
