rear diff

Hi all, If a rear diff is ill, what's the symptoms?

When I'm travelling at 30mph I hear a slight wher wher sound from the rear when I pass 30 it goes.

I'm almost sure it's tire road noise. But thought I'd check with you guys... It is running low profile 17's

The diff seals can leak, might be an idea to check and if theres signs of leaking get the oil topped up.

looked all dry when I was under there. So they don't make a sound then? lol

Not unless they're worn or solidly mounted. My avant has solid diff and subframe mounts and it whines a fair amount.

I'd ignore it, and see if it gets worse.

lol, it' goes after 30mph sure it's tire noise. Solid diff? what's than then?!?

Could also be the rear wheel bearings
