odd brake clunk.

hi all, trying to find the strange odd clunk I sometimes get when I brake...


Cant feel much and just wondered if a brake master cylinder can clunk if wearing out? the car has done 123 thou.. The brakes are spot on btw?


or maybe even the servo? it looks clean from the out side.

Anyone? it's on a b5 facelift I believe W reg.

Its sometimes the pads moving in the carriers.

The carriers rust and then the rust flakes away or is brushed off when doing a brake service, leaving a slightly larger gap. This allows the pads to move slightly.

Worth checking all the bolts, balljoints and other suspension parts that can wear out though.
