Number plate lamps

I recently changed the bulbs in my number plate lamps on my avant
to led units. They worked fine for approx 2 weeks and then started blowing
the 5 amp fuses repeatedly.
I have put back the oem bulbs to make sure it wasnt the led units.
The fuses are still blowing.
Any ideas why?

Water ingress somewhere? or wire shorting against bodywork. Check all sidelight bulbs and connections too.
