as above, did an oil change today and thought i'd see how much movement i had and if it was sticking.... it was a little stiff, but not too bad i recon (cleaning the turbo with the "mister muscle mod" left for another day) and i was managing to move it about 7-9mm ish and it wasn't "wobbling" (which i been told is a good thing)... is this 7-8mm movement right??

My AFN diesel had about 10-15mm of "extension" when it was mullered.

About 7-8mm was roughly what the new one had.

If you have a look, you will see a screw stop for the actuator.
The actuator should move to the stop.

Best way to test is with a VAC pump (I use a Mityvac) Draw vac on the actuator then find a way of pushing/pulling the lever to see if it has reached its max (should be a reasonably solid feel if it has) and wont push further. Then release the vac and check the lever returns quickly and smothly back to the min stop in the same way. If its sticky at either end and doesn't easily and smothly move to the limit stop you have issues brewing.
