Hi all,

Could anyone confirm when the B5 A4 changes from bayonet style sidelights to 501's? Was it with the facelift headlights? Mine is pre-facelift and has bayonets.

Wondering if it's possible to change to 501's without changing headlamps?

Cheers

Must be facelift headlights as my pfl car has fl headlights in with 501s.

Does the bayonet holder just push into the headlight? If so, cut some 501 holders off from a scrapyard and connect up and fit.

Yeah it just pushes in to a rubber grommet. I don't know if the size is comparable. I'll have a look, I have both types of bulb.

Thanks Dan.

I always thaught they were all 501 with the exception of Facelift S4's.

Facelift S4's got H6W bayonets in an attempt to make the sidelights look less yellow against the HID dip beam!

Looking at ETKA, prefacelift cars WITHOUT front fogs got T4W bayonet bulbs. The pre-facelifts WITH front fogs got a 501 wedge.

I can confirm that my pre-facelift A4 has bayonets and no foglights, so that aligns.
