Swapping hubs/cv joints

The cv joint and wheel bearing has gone on my 1998 1.8T sport estate, this replaced very recently my 1.9T diesel estate, the diesel had new cv joints and bearings less than three months ago and was wondering the entire hub and driveshaft assembly is compatable with the 1.8T sport

Would certainly make it easier to swap the whole thing.

It might.

The upright is the same for sure.

The outer CV is probably the same, the inner joint however might not be. Some TDI's got 108mm inners and some got 130mm. All 1.8T's got 108mm.

If the inner is different you might be able to swap the TDI outer CV onto your 1.8T shaft, i'm not sure if the shaft itself is the same size though or if the TDI ones are larger.
