1Z vs AFN - Need to buy some bits but 1Z is unknown to local autospares

Quick one guys, car is due belts (Fan and timing) water pump and thermostat over the next few 1000 or so miles. Tried to get parts and my local autofactor hasnt got 1Z as a reference in their books, is it the same as an AFN as thats what he says fits.

I can't help you much, except say get another motor factor,lol......
The 1Z was the 90 bhp lump fitted to the Audi 80 TDI as well as the A4 ( so over a long period of time) , so it should be in any decent parts manual IMHO.............

unless you want to get halfway thru the job and be stuck with parts that dont fit.......
yes the 1z is similar to the afn/aaz/ahl vag 1.9tdi, or even the sdi 1y lumps.....
whether the cambelt and associated parts are interchangeable i couldnt be sure, and niether can your "guessing" parts supplier!

1z was fitted to mk3 golf passat to 1999 audi 80 early a4 and passat to 2000
gsf and euros will have listings for these engines/cars
