Hi everybody ! Just joined this site + thought I'd find out everybody's opinions on clutch problems I'm having. Clutch pedal free travel has increased (engaging point is lower to floor) and difficult to get gears. Also whirring noise when clutch pedal depressed.
Slave cylinder was replaced 3 mths ago and system bled. Any ideas as to how far down clutch should engage and what's causing this ?

What engine do you have ??

Your only way to really find out is to whiz the gearbox out !!

Also dual mass flywheels are problems to start of with.

Model is basic 4 door with 1.8 engine (code ADR).

Whirring noise could be the release bearing.

When the clutch is pressed is there any judder/vibration through the pedal/car ??

I've seen this sort of fault many of times at work on the Citroen C1 were the clutch pressure plate breaks of one of the plate retaining spring/fingers

No judder/vibration through the pedal/car when the clutch is pressed. I also think whirring noise is release bearing so I guess it's probably going to be gearbox out and complete clutch replacement job ! Although I'm also wondering whether master slave cylinder has anything to do with it ?
