    s4 brake upgrade thus far

right all im nearly ther with changing my brakes on my 1.8t fwd to the s4 setup,

so far ive managed to collect

    s4 calipers + carriers x2
    b6 hubs ( aluminium) x2
    new dust shields x2
    rs4 driveshafts x2
    and new discs + pads
and orange caliper paint off course

all i think there is now is the 2 lower suspension arms ( tapered ball joint ) and wheel spacers and bolts lol

oh and the time to fit it all

just interested if any one else has already done this to a fwd 1.8 and if any one thinks ill need any other parts?

The only other think i can think of is B6 front spring seats.

If you use B6 uprights with B5 dampers/spring seats, the car will sit about 15mm lower at the front than it does currently.

I was going to but the s4 brakes are so poor i didn't bother.

I waited till i had the quattro. I have had B7 uprights on for a good 18 mnths and fitted RS4 brakes onto it. I was lucky having the TQS i have 82mm outers i had no need to change the shafts or CVs.

I changed uprights on my last car to V6 ones to use bigger shafts to allow my to bolt up to the 6 speed box drive flanges as they were very specific fit.

was looking for an answer, as i've put a big install in my boot and was looking at lowering the front a bit... and this seems to be the answser i needed... will this setup be ok for the 2.5TDI Quattro??

Yeh it'd work, bear in mind you'd also need B6/7 calipers, as the spacing on the hub is different.

There is a B6 version of the standard 288 brakes though so you can get away with retaining your disks/pads etc.
