My QST Results

So the car has been to QST this afternoon.
Good setup that they have there very clean and some very nice cars on the shop front.
Any way my results are as follows.

198.4BHP at the wheels @5504rpm
311.8NM @2505rpm that is about 230 Lb/ft

I am not a happy bunny at all Car still feels as quick as when AMD had it so i don't think i have lost much or any power.
So probably going to get it booked in there for a remap but he says that i should change the injectors but they are like 350 quid a set, what are your opinions on that people should i get them changed?

Re: My QST Results

I would wait mate till you get most or all of the bits you want (manifold etc.) so then it will only need one remap.

Maybe you will join me in the 200bhp club one day!!! Just kidding lad.

Your torque is at pretty low down in the revs, mine is at 3690rpm.

How much did QST charge you?

Re: My QST Results

It cost me 100 squids which they will take of the cost of the group buy remap that we are getting. I am going to wait until the manifold gets here if they ever give me a delivery price may have to fly over and get it might be quicker...... LOL

Yeah i know not very speedy!!!

I have a mate in Florida at the mo where are they based?!! Ha ha ha.

I would be tempted by the bigger injectors because you will always wonder what may have been!!

Then you will also have them for if you upgrade your Turbo again.

You should take your car for a blast and then put the old ic back on and see how it feels. It all seems to have gone belly up since then.

Re: My QST Results

No im keeping my turbo.
I have to get the injectors that MTM supply or they will not supply the software to go with.
Kim also said there is no need to change the FPR if changing the injectors, its just one or the other.
I think it still feels the same as when i put the IC on as there was a split in a pipe where i had not put it back on proberly and now it seems to be boosting better than it did.
My mate in his Cupra has always been able to keep up with me so that kind of makes sence now as his standard power is arounf the 180 mark and being a lighter car and all.

Markey - 198.4bhp at the wheels is a good figure. That must be about 240 at the flywheel. So you have joined Paul in the 200 club (as he puts it). Unless you meant at the flywheel????

My golf is 205 at the wheels but that corresponded to 250 at the flywheel. The 'at the wheels' figure is the more accurate reading.

Re: My QST Results

You can get a set of Bosch 440cc injectors off this guy, I got some, amazing price. About $220 shipped IIRC

Injectors

You won't need to change the FPR because the Quattros have a 4Bar one as standard. It was one of the 'mods' they made for the 180BHP variant of the older 150BHP engine in the FWD models which have a 3Bar FPR.

Re: My QST Results

Sorry for the second post..

I've just realised you have a TS not a TQS Markey...

You're FPR will be ok, but it would make life easier for the fuel system if you had a 4Bar one, just so as the injectors etc. are not working absolutely flat out. A higher rated FPR will allow them to do their job easier that's all...

Re: My QST Results

So can i fit a 4 bar fpr on my car now or will it have to have the remap straight away as the fuel pressure will be differet?
Does anyone know what the standard injectors flow rate is that i have on my engine? thanks

Re: My QST Results

really....

no need for larger injectors unless you are running lean in the fuel map

or

you are turning the boost up

or

you have changed the set up, headwork, cams, manifold matching etc

there is a limit to the power you can gain with mapping, unless there is something that can utalise the extra fuel etc...

your i/c will help torque but not really HP, although it will mean you will have less chance of det problems.

Re: My QST Results

Markey - I think the 1.8TS has a 4bar FPR as standard. Mine is 4bar and I can't think someone has changed it! It's easy to check as it's written on the side of the fecker!!! Have a look see

Re: My QST Results

Markey,

Did QST also give you some information about boost pressure to go with those power figures?

I have had mine on two different set of rollers and there was a discrepency of 30 bhp + 40 lbs between the two and yet my car was running the same boost on both i.e 1.0 Bar.

However driving a 210bhp based S3 the other day made me think that the higher figures (ones used on my sig) are about right. I say this because the acceleration flat out through the gears was about the same and noting that mine is a touch heavier.

I have had my turbo running at 1.4 bar ish with the N75J and it absolutely fly's. It probably run a little lean under those conditions (didnt have it on for long) but the turbo certainly felt capable of pushing that type of boost.

Last time I spoke to Jabba they say they Map the K04's to 1.2 bar but only claim 220 - 240 bhp. They say they often replace the FPR but not the injectors as they claim the limiting factor is actually the high temps as a direct result from increasing the boost. With you having a FMIC, if what they say is correct then you should be able to map yours to 1.2 - 1.4 bar.

I am still in two minds whether to actually get mine mapped again or not as I think theres a touch more power out there to be had than running at 1.0 bar, so would be interested in finding out how you get on. Bloody so called specialist tunners out there all have some slightly different opinions and methods of which is bloody anoying.
