    CV boots

    need some.
got some from ECP and they are truly crap. carved from a solid block of nylon, impossible to keep on and super stiff

where sells decent rubber ones for less than the Halfrauds robbery price?

I replaced one on Thursday, just got an Audi one as thats what I was told to get as they fit the best. £36 for the kit though.

Ball bearing popped out at the inner cv joint and was like crystal maze getting it back in!

All four have torn? What you been doing?

That one I just replaced was my first.

Yeah £36 for one. Parts are getting mega pricey nowadays with the poor pound.

well I bought some ****ty ones from ECP which are a waste of time, they are rock hard and pop off at any opportunity!
the two rears came with the subframe I bought from docurley.
one has torn/split and the other may as well get done while I am at it!

    thats pretty feckin pricey

lnow anyone who wants an engine hoist and stand in Edinburgh?

I've got a Genuine CV boot kit knocking around here somewhere, bought approx 2 years ago when I needed 1 for the MOT and so got another as a spare , it only cost about £15 then IIRC , have they really gone up that much???
The Genuine boots now are also very plasticy, not at all like the rubbery ones of years ago, yes much harder to crimp in place but also (in my experience anyway) longer lasting........

I had a GKN kit delivered from them yesterday and it's a rubber one. Cost me ~£16 from their website.

I bought one of the hard plastic pieces of **** from ECP the other week too. Ended up splitting on me when putting it over the spline. I was fuming!!!! Had to get a taxi to a local motor factors and got a generic 'stretchy' boot (ie: rubbery), but even that isn't great. The inner clip touches the rubber, so i'm not expecting that to last long. The whole debacle cost me more than OEM (which I didn't buy just because of time).

JCB - You are probably best off buying a full set of driveshafts. Loads of S4's being broken at the moment, and people can't give the driveshafts away (because they never break)!

S4 shafts wont fit a TQS gearbox.

S4 has 108mm inner flanges, and the TQS has 100mm.
